At that time, the game was mesmerizing through solid visuals and storytelling that the emotional value was not inferior to series such as The Walking Dead.
Well, The Last of Us 2 will be here on June 19. We got a chance to review first. How about the quality?
- The visuals are truly extraordinary
When I played The Last of Us on the PS3 first, the visual quality was truly amazing. I played PS3 games with great graphics at the time, but The Last of Us still feels amazing. While The First of Us first presents the maximum quality of PS3 graphics, now The Last of Us Part 2 also presents the maximum quality of PS4 graphics. As for the area graphics, you will be treated to beautiful areas such as natural scenery when the sun is shining brightly.
But you will also be shown horrible moldy places, filled with infected creatures that are presented in more detail too. What really amazed me was the quality of the animated facial expressions. Facial expressions in The Last of Us Part 2 are presented very realistically. In some scenes, I can feel the inner turmoil of a certain character without the character needing to say anything, only from the look on his face.
- The quality of the storytelling can stir up emotions steadily
We will not elaborate too deeply on the story of The Last of Us Part II. To fully enjoy the power of this game, I encourage you to play it yourself later. Clear? This game takes the theme of revenge, as you might already be able to feel from the trailers that have been circulating.
Many games, comics, anime, films that take the theme of revenge. But the storytelling and characterization of The Last of Us Part 2 makes this game one of the best in presenting the theme. The story presented is really strong. This story is also supported by solid characterization as well. You will be taken to understand the main characters of this game, so that the drama created will be very solid.
Maybe you will like the story of The Last of Us Part 2. Maybe not. But I am sure the story of this game will be memorable and you will always remember. This game is very good at playing the emotions of the players. You can be made to laugh, moved, sad, scared.
- It feels like the AI of infected creatures and human enemies has been increased
I am also amazed that the AI from the enemies in this game feels improved compared to The Last of Us first. If you are not careful, it will be easier for infected creatures to find and attack you.
But infected creatures are still better than human enemies. With the amount that exceeds you, if you are too noisy, they will surround you and attack with tactics. I play this game at the standard difficulty level, and some parts of the game still feel challenging.
What’s the problem too? The survival element of the first game is also still brought here. Very little ammo. Melee weapons, apart from Ellie’s knife, are easily damaged. Supplies for making medicine and equipment can also be rarely found.
Increased AI plus minimal supplies will make you recommended to play stealth or sneak quietly. If not, you will often encounter situations where you run out of bullets, get hurt, and have no medicine even though you still have enemies to deal with.
I still feel that in terms of gameplay, The Last of Us Part 2 (same as its predecessor) feels nothing special, especially in terms of battle. But the AI power of your enemies will still give you horror but fun and tension experiences.
- Really not for children
Previously, I had discussed the visual problem of The Last of Us Part 2, which was more stable than its predecessor. Well, this makes the scene of brutality in the game also be presented in more detail, realistic, and surprising.
You will find many scary scenes in this game. Especially Ellie’s fate if her life ran out. Want to be shot by humans, hit by Molotovmu own fire, or invaded by infected creatures, the effect will be clearly demonstrated.
But this is not just a bloody scene, the reason I say this is not a game for children. The ESRB rating for this game has confirmed that The Last of Us Part 2 contains sexual content, violence, abusive language, and the use of illegal drugs.
So yep, for those who are not old enough, avoid this game first. For those who are old enough, yes, make sure your younger siblings or children don’t play first.
I give The Last of Us Part 2 a 4.5 / 5 star rating. Great visuals that can present brutal beauty and horror, compelling storytelling and characterization, audio that can present sound effects and music steadily, this game feels amazing.
This game is not suitable for those who don’t like horror, brutal violence, or heavy story themes. But for those of you who don’t mind those elements, or even fans of the zombie series with emotional stories like The Walking Dead from Telltale, this is a title that can’t be missed. Of course, as long as you are old enough to play it.
